If you're a real estate agent in Ontario and you use Google to get found online (or plan to), there's an important update you need to know.
Google recently made changes to how you create and manage posts on your Google Business Profile- the little profile that shows up when someone Googles your name or your business (like "Sushil Mishra Etobicoke Realtor").
These changes won’t break anything, but they do make things easier- especially if you don’t consider yourself tech-savvy. So let’s walk through what changed, what you can now do better, and how it helps you as an Ontario REALTOR®.

First: What Are Google Posts?
Think of Google Posts as little social media updates that show up right on your Google profile. You can use them to:
Promote open houses
Share a new listing
Talk about recent solds
Announce events or giveaways
Share tips (e.g., how to buy a home in Brampton with 5% down)
They show up under your profile when someone searches you, and they help build trust with potential clients before they ever call you.
What Changed in August 2025
Google replaced the old “Add Update” button with a cleaner and more organized section called “Posts.”
This new layout is much easier to use, especially if you're not into tech. Everything is now in one place, and you can actually see what’s going on with your posts—no more guessing.
Here’s what’s better now:
Instead of clicking “Add Update” every single time, you now have one central dashboard to manage everything.
You can see the status of each post—whether it’s live, expired, or pending.
Post types like Update, Event, and Offer used to feel a bit confusing. Now, they’re all grouped together in a much simpler interface.
Bottom line? Less clicking around. More clarity. No guesswork.
Real-Life Example:
You post an open house for a new listing in Mississauga.
Before: You weren't sure if it posted, when it expired, or what type it was.
Now: You go to the "Posts" section, see it's listed as "Event," check the expiration date, and can edit or reshare it easily.
Use Cases for Ontario Agents
Here are 4 ways you can use Google Posts effectively:
1. Promote Your Listings
Example: "Just Listed! 3-bedroom townhome in Brampton near Mount Pleasant GO. Join our open house Saturday 2-4 PM."
Use the "Event" post for this. It expires after your open house ends.
2. Share Market Updates
Example: "Detached homes in Mississauga averaged $1.4M last month. Thinking of selling? Let’s chat."
Use an "Update" post. Great for showing you're knowledgeable.
3. Client Testimonials
Example: ""Sushil helped us find our dream home in Etobicoke! He was patient, smart, and always on time." - Priya & Aman."
Use an "Update" post to build social proof.
4. Limited-Time Offers
Example: "List with us before September 15 and receive a $200 Pet Valu gift card (Max the Golden Agent insists!)"
Use an "Offer" post and set an expiry.
✅ What You Should Do Now
Here’s your quick action plan:
Go to your Google Business Profile
Click on "Posts"
Try posting a market update or open house
Revisit your posts weekly to keep things fresh
Even if you don’t use it often, having one or two recent posts adds a lot of credibility to your Google profile.

Extra Tip for Agents in Ontario
If you don’t have a public office, Google still lets you list service areas like Toronto, Vaughan, Hamilton, or Barrie without showing your home address.
This is important. Many agents skip this step, and it hurts their local visibility.
Also- don’t forget to respond to your reviews. A simple "Thanks! It was a pleasure helping you" goes a long way.

This update won’t change your business overnight, but it makes it easier to stay visible and professional online. And that’s always a win.
